The Facebook-owned instant messaging platform has been testing new features every week. According to WABetaInfo, the company has been testing multi-device support functionality and the arrival is imminent.
If the multi-device support is introduced, we can expect to use the same WhatsApp account on multiple devices. Moreover, WhatsApp also testing improved search, chat clearing, and other related features.
The reports indicate that WhatsApp is currently testing multi-device support on both Android and iOS. You will be able to easily perform multitasking including the ability to switch from one device to another. The company is currently testing a multi-device feature with support for up to four devices. The feature will be useful if you work with multiple devices.
Currently, WhatsApp is designed to work with only one mobile number. However, you can now work with both mobile and WhatsApp Web simultaneously. The new feature is developed in such a way that if you login to your WhatsApp in a secondary smartphone, you will not be logged out from the first device.
As of this writing, the search facility is lacking in WhatsApp. There are reports that WhatsApp will enable users to search chats by “date” in not only individual chat but also groups. You will be able to search chats, images, videos based on relevant date. This feature is under beta testing stage on iOS but will land on Android platform by the end of June.
