Xiaomi has launched the next-generation MIUI 12 for emerging smartphones alongside the launch of Mi 10 Youth Edition. Going forward, you can expect the integration of MIUI 12 for all major Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones. The relevant OTA updates will be pushed to the devices in a phased manner. According to Xiaomi founder Lei Jun, the MIUI is currently used in 221 countries with support for 80 languages. With over 310 million monthly active users, the MIUI 12 is termed as an amazing update to MIUI 11. Jun added that the software is considered as the soul of any mobile device. The newly launched Mi 10 Youth Edition will be pre-loaded with MIUI 12 interface.
MIUI 12 Features
The MIUI 12 brings in several new features including motion design. During the launch event, Xiaomi product team executives revealed the engineering behind the development of animations using self-researched technologies. The newly launched MIUI is designed using a new rendering engine, which aims to display real-world light and shadow.
The MIUI also offers real-time colors, real-time blur including G2 continuous curves, which enable better interaction between the UI and the related hardware. Xiaomi also adopted the new dynamic form technology, which enables smooth transition between horizontal and vertical layout.
With the help of MIUI 12, you will be able to drag to the corner of the display to verify the status. The purpose of this feature is to simplify multitasking. Moreover, the latest MIUI 12 also provides support for recording snoring dream. However, you have to place the smartphone adjacent to the pillow to enable recording of sleep.
The companion app provides detailed sleep report including tracking walk, run, and cycling. The refreshed health application is capable of consuming less than one percent of battery. Some of the other features included with 12’th edition of MIUI are dynamic weather and modifications to visual UI language.
